Graindelavoix
In 1902, a remarkable recording was made of Alessandro Moreschi, the last castrato in musical history. His voice still sounds strikingly intimate, evoking both admiration and unease.
Using this recording as a starting point, Graindelavoix explores the mysterious soundscape of ancient vocal traditions. Music from the Sistine Chapel, Byzantine chants and Mediterranean rituals come together in an intense musical experience.
Becoming Moreschi is not just about music, but also about how voices can move, unsettle and haunt us. The programme brings the past very close and reveals just how powerful and strange the human voice can be.
