Ensemble Castelkorn & Hana Blažíková

Leoš Janáček transcribed Moravian folk songs as he heard them: raw and direct. Ensemble Castelkorn starts from his arrangements and adapts them to their own style with the intriguing voice of Hana Blažíková and eight instruments. While poetry fulfils its role as the shepherd of the score, melodies take on a rosy glow thanks to new colours and contours. Instrumental music by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber provides space, movement, and relief in this celebration of recognition and rediscovery.

Founded by Josef Žák in 2016 in Paris, Ensemble Castelkorn explores the musical treasures of Central Europe, particularly Bohemia and Moravia. The main source of its repertoire is the musical collection of Bishop Liechtenstein-Castelkorn in Kroměříž, one of the largest 17th-century music collections in Central Europe. The ensemble won the Diapason d'Or for their CD Labyrinth Garden (2024) and regularly performs at major baroque festivals in France and abroad. The ensemble is artist in residence during Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2026.
