Music and Poetry
What came first: the word or the music? Welcome to Le Salon, where that question receives a different answer every evening. In the spirit of a historic salon – a place for meeting, conversation, and art – wordsmith Simon Mulder invites musicians to explore the boundary between speaking and singing.
Verses become sound, music becomes language – sometimes the difference is no longer audible. Do not expect a concert or a lecture, but a performance in which recitation and music tickle, tease, support, and embrace one another. In the beautiful ballroom of the historic Paushuize – a unique setting with just enough intimacy and an abundance of grandeur – every word and every note can be savoured like a spoonful of caviar.
