Le Salon: RossoPorpora
Alone, pensive, the poet wanders through a desolate landscape. In the sonnet Solo et pensoso, Petrarch sends his protagonist, bewildered by love—but also his reader—on an internal quest. Composers such as Nasco, Lassus, Wert, and Marenzio each gave the emotionally charged poetry a different voice. RossoPorpora reveals how composers take different musical paths with the same verses, between serene clarity and whimsical chromaticism. Subject matter for a fascinating salon in which Simon Mulder and RossoPorpora – word and music – circle around each other.
