Henk Veldman
John Dowland established a solid reputation around 1600 as a master of melancholy. Superhits like Come Again and Flow My Tears form the heart of Henk Veldman's carillon programme. The titular carillonneur of Leiden, Raalte, and Bussum places these immortal songs alongside music by Nicolas Vallet and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. The grand finale: William Byrd's virtuoso The Bells, in which a simple bass line grows into a spectacle of clappers.
