Fabulous Fringe: Cappella Boanerges
This concert is part of the free fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2026.
Since 2024, Cappella Boanerges has been reintroducing traditional polyphonic repertoire into the Catholic Latin liturgy. The ensemble explores forgotten Vespers repertoire from choirbooks and partbooks, focusing on Deus in Auditorium, Benedicamus Domino and untexted polyphonic settings of psalm tones. During Advent and Lent, they celebrate Vespers featuring an anonymous polyphonic Magnificat from the ILVB 158 manuscript of the Illustre Lieve Vrouwe Broederschap in ’s-Hertogenbosch. Multinational and diverse in confessional background, Cappella Boanerges welcomes all who are drawn to beauty, tradition and early music.
