Ensemble Hemiolia
Atalia beams from her throne. The coup has succeeded! But do the people really want her as queen? Atalia’s paranoia escalates into violence; suddenly, her own downfall is also dangerously close. In this rarely heard oratorio, the music of Francesco Gasparini brings Racine’s tragedy Athalie to life. For this Baroque gem, Ensemble Hemiolia has assembled a cast of top singers that rekindles the theatrical glow of Rome in the 1700s.
