Comet Musicke

With his religious music, he joined the ranks of the greatest polyphonists. With his songs, he won the hearts of his people. Comet Musicke follows the life of the illustrious Sevillian Francisco Guerrero from West to East and back again, through works of his own and motets, villancicos and canciones that coloured his era: music for court, church and street, born of melodic ingenuity and rhetorical talent.

About the performers

Comets appear, and reappear in the course of time, thus linking past and present. In the same way, Comet Musicke aims at creating a close connection between today’s audiences and early music. The musicians make the musical text their own by diving deep into manuscripts and treatises, historical contexts, and asking expert advice on the manufacturing of their historical instruments. With this approach, Comet Musicke creates biography-concerts which combine music, poetry, short historic narratives and with a touch of humour.
