Fabulous Fringe: Alba Villar
This concert is part of the free fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2026.
Alba Villar Cairó (Barcelona, 1995) is a baroque cellist and viola da gamba player. After graduating with honors from the Conservatori de Terrassa, she studied baroque cello at ESMUC Barcelona with Emmanuel Balssa, who also introduced her to the viola da gamba. She continued her studies at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles and Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel with Hervé Douchy and Philippe Pierlot. She has taken masterclasses with Gaetano Nasillo, Bruno Cocset and Vittorio Ghielmi, among others. Alba performs as a soloist and continuo player with ensembles including Ricercar Consort and Bach Collegium Barcelona, alongside projects in contemporary and Spanish music.
