Fabulous Fringe: I Mastricelli
This concert is part of the free fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2026.
I Mastricelli is an early music ensemble founded in 2023 at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Inspired by the young musicians who assisted the great masters of the Neapolitan conservatories, the ensemble places improvisation, arrangement and composition at the heart of its practice. Through cello, viola da gamba and other bass instruments, it explores the expressive power of the low register. Combining historical research with a living tradition, I Mastricelli connects Neapolitan folk music, Baroque repertoire and the musical exchange between Naples and Paris. The ensemble has performed across France, Spain and the Netherlands and released its debut album in 2026.
