Tenor Reinoud Van Mechelen founded A Nocte Temporis in 2016. The ensemble started as a chamber music group and has since grown into a baroque orchestra. The ensemble has released highly acclaimed CDs featuring music by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach and Marc-Antoine Charpentier. Their album of music by Louis-Nicolas Clérambault has been awarded several honours, including a CHOC de Classica, a Diapason d’Or, a Diamant d’Opéra, and a Le Choix de France Musique.
Reinoud Van Mechelen graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in 2012 in the class of Dina Grossberger. Even then he already attracted attention at talent programmes such as the Académie Baroque Européenne d'Ambronay and Le Jardin des Voix, the academy of Les Arts Florissants. Van Mechelen's interpretations, as sensitive as they are virtuosic, earned him the 2017 Caecilia Prize Young Musician of the Year from the Belgian music press. Van Mechelen is in demand with practically all the outstanding early music ensembles of the moment, including Le Concert Spirituel, Les Talens Lyriques, Le Poème Harmonique, Il Gardellino, L'Arpeggiata and Collegium Vocale Gent. He is also causing a furore in musical circles with his own ensemble A Nocte Temporis, including the rediscovery of the Baroque's most illustrious 'haute-contres'.
