Outrageous and improper? In 1568, Maddalena Casulana did something unprecedented: she was the first woman to publish her own music, with a challenging message to all the men who thought they had a monopoly on talent. About the performers

Soprano Elisabeth Hetherington is one of the most outstanding interpreters of early and contemporary repertoire. Elisabeth graduated cum laude from the Master of Historical Performance at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. In 2016, she founded the ensemble Duo Serenissima, with which she performed at festivals and in concert series worldwide. She received the Dutch Classical Talent Award in 2022 and the Dutch Music Prize in 2024. Besides her career as a singer, Elisabeth has received much attention for her research on the original pronunciation of Elizabethan English.

Emma Huijsser studied recorder at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and baroque harp in Milan. She has collaborated with ensembles such as Tulipa Consort, Música Temprana, and Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra. Emma has performed at the Komische Oper Berlin, Innsbrucker Festwochen, and soloed in Handel’s Harp Concerto in Kassel.
