La Fonte Musica
In the third and final concert of La Fonte Musica and Michele Pasotti, this artist in residence focuses on the intriguing religious music of Matteo da Perugia. The motet Ave Sancta Mundi Salus – 'Hail, Salvation of the World' – is central. This powerful title reflects the spiritual idealism of the early 15th century. Matteo's connection with humanist Pietro Filargo places his work in the middle of early humanist Italy, just before Flemish polyphony came to dominate the musical landscape.
