Fabulous Fringe: Jon Wasserman
This concert is part of the free fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2024.
Jon Wasserman, a New York native based in Madrid, is a specialist in plucked string instruments like theorbo, lute, vihuela, and various guitars. He holds degrees in Classical Guitar, Ethnomusicology, and Historical Plucked String Instruments from Indiana University and Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya. He studied with Nigel North and Xavier Diaz Latorre and participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians. Wasserman has performed globally, including Carnegie Hall and the Cathedral of Granada, and regularly collaborates with various ensembles. In 2022, he released the album Tonos Humanos with Duo Isanta & Wasserman, featuring Spanish music from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
