Fringe: Duo Minoriten
This concert is part of the free fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2024.
Duo Minoriten consists of violinist Minori Deguchi, and theorbist Asako Ueda. They first met during their studies at Toho Gakuen University of Music in Tokyo. After graduating, they officially formed the Duo Minoriten in The Hague in 2020. The name of the ensemble was inspired by manuscript XIV 726, which is housed in the collection of the Minorite Convent in Vienna. This manuscript contains numerous compositions for violin and basso continuo, which caught the duo's attention formed the starting point of the ensemble. They were honoured to perform in concerts in Tokyo, Takamatsu Early Music Festival, and Lyon in 2023, and were also selected as ‘Artist in Residence’ at Schloss Weißenbrunn in 2024.
