Fringe: Ensemble Aenigma
This concert is part of the free fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2026.
Ensemble Aenigma is a quartet dedicated to historically informed performance and expressive, thoughtful music-making. The ensemble was formed in 2025 through a performance of Bach’s Musikalisches Opfer, which sparked a strong artistic connection between its four musicians. Since then, Aenigma has developed a particular affinity for 18th-century German repertoire, exploring its intricate counterpoint and refined textures. The quartet approaches early music through experiences of light, darkness, colour and novelty, seeking to reveal its elegance and sensitivity while inviting audiences to discover this repertoire alongside them.
