Dionysos Now!
Whether Brumel wrote his Missa pro defunctis for Notre-Dame in Paris, where he worked for years, we will never know for certain. But the Requiem Mass is certainly in its place there, with Gregorian chant and polyphony uneasily rubbing up against each other, as if neither is allowed to have the last word. Dionysos Now! – the idiosyncratic polyphony collective centred around tenor Tore Tom Denys – exposes these rifts and soothes without placating.
