Dame Emma Kirkby became acquainted with Renaissance polyphony at a young age: the beginning of a long career in early music that made her voice known worldwide. Lute songs and vocal consort music are two threads running through her career, alongside standard works by Bach, Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart and Haydn. As a member of The Consort of Musicke, Emma Kirkby has performed worldwide in concerts, recordings and workshops, and with lutenist Jakob Lindberg has given recitals and lessons for decades.
