Les Cris de Paris

Passion for Venice
Between land and water, East and West, splendour and melancholy, spirituality and drama, lies Venice: the glorious purgatory between many worlds, where sparks of renewal unite continuously to create crackling flames. With works by Legrenzi, Marini, Gabrieli, Cavalli and Monteverdi, Les Cris de Paris colours the nightscape of the city where polychorality was born, where opera stepped straight out of nappies into a glittering gown and where audiences hung on the lips of the first stage performers.

About the performers

From trio to large ensemble and from sound artists to image makers: Les Cris de Paris is the creative home of a unique collective of creators, enthused by music from the 16th century to the present day. Whether in concert, theatre or dance form, this cluster of talents led by musicologist/director/spiritual father Geoffroy Jourdain threads together the most beautiful classics and the most surprising discoveries into performances that leave a lasting impression long after the final note sounds.
