Dance workshop for Ambassadors
How was dancing actually done in the 16th century? Series like Bridgerton already allow us to imagine a lot, but what could be more fun than experiencing it for yourself! Prior to the concert by Capriccio Stravagante Renaissance Orchestra and Skip Sempé, there will be a Renaissance dancing workshop by Rachel Farr especially for the Ambassadors. You provide comfortable (dancing) shoes and we will take care of the rest!
About the concert:
A festival without Skip Sempé? That's like a party without champagne. And for the Friends of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht, we serve only the very best. Our favourite harpsichordist-alchemist returns with a special project: stylised dance music by composers such as William Brade and Michael Praetorius, which rivals Dowland's Lachrimae and Morley's Consort Lessons, and is surprisingly rarely heard. Unknown, but no longer unloved after this concert! In a lavish line-up, Sempé and Capriccio Stravagante Renaissance Orchestra mix elegant pavanes with sparkling galliardes to make a sparkling Renaissance gala under the approving eye of Terpsichore, the Greek muse of dance and namesake of the collection of instrumental dances that Praetorius published in 1612.
