Dionysos Now!

Riddles noted in red guide the singers of international sensation Dionysos Now! through the five-part Missa Alleluia by Pierre de la Rue, favourite composer of Margaret of Austria. Note by note, they decipher the musical cryptograms in which the 'Alleluia' resounds as an echo of Easter. Between the parts of the mass, the chromatic chansons from Margaret's songbook pierce holes in the sky. A deep dive into manuscripts that travelled as diplomatic gifts from Mechelen to Vienna, Wittenberg and even the Vatican.

About the performers

Six voices, tons of experience, a cast-iron conviction and indefatigable drive: these are the assets behind Dionysos Now!, the Passion project launched in 2020 by Belgian tenor Tore Tom Denys. With Vienna as their home base and worldwide concert experience, the singers are relentlessly committed as ambassadors of the Franco-Flemish polyphonists. The starting point is always the original manuscripts and printed sources that bear the footprints of composers like Adriaen Willaert, Denys' fellow townsman and ultimate source of inspiration. But the ensemble's interpretations stand with both feet in the present, thanks to the cutting-edge vocal interplay and the immersive quality of the ensemble sound that rises from the individual parts like a cathedral of sound. With three recordings on vinyl dedicated to Willaert, the ensemble also opts for quality, durability and originality as regards their discography.
