Ensemble Castelkorn
A god and a satyr. Art and instinct. Apollo’s lyrical perfection versus Marsyas’ indomitable virtuosity. Titian depicted their mythical duel with tragic outcome, but in this musical interpretation it becomes a dialogue – between the violin and the viola da gamba, between refined court culture and high-tension baroque. Based on art and music from the collection of Bishop Castelkorn of Olomouc, the Castelkorn ensemble, led by the phenomenal violinist Josef Žak, paints a fresco with the most beautiful music from the Habsburg Empire.
