Fringe: Ramillete de Tonos
This concert is part of the free fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2024.
Ramillete de Tonos aims to recreate the intimate musical atmosphere of sixteenth-century Spain. Founded by lutenist Kateřina Maňáková, the repertoire of the ensemble is inspired by her artistic research on intabulations of sacred music for vihuela and on instrumental practice within vocal polyphony. The concept of this ensemble aims to demonstrate two ways of the intabulation process which were both present in Spain in the sixteenth century: the ‘Spanish’ way, which was very literal and used mostly for sacred polyphonic repertoire, and the ‘Italian’, full of embellishments. Ramillete de Tonos also discovers new possibilities through masterclasses with leading artists such as Maria Jonas or Adrián Rodríguez van den Spoel.
