Fringe: Jon Wasserman

This concert is part of the free fringe programme of the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2026.

Born in New York and based in Madrid, Jon Wasserman is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and specialist in historical plucked string instruments. He studied classical guitar, ethnomusicology, and historical plucked string instruments at Indiana University, and holds a Master’s in Spanish Music from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid. Active as a soloist and continuo player across Europe and North America, his work connects Renaissance and Baroque music with contemporary and world music, exploring lesser-known historical repertoire and new perspectives on the expressive interplay of voice and lute.
