They probably never met, but they were certainly like-minded – so it would seem from the music of William Byrd and Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck. Both closely followed musical activities across the North Sea. In this recital, Andrea Buccarella has the keyboard icons engage in a hearty duel with fantasies, dances, and variations that often prove to be surprisingly related.
