Stabat Mater: The Scarlattis in Lent
Jörg-Andreas Bötticher is the master of ceremonies during this breathtaking showcase of Lenten music—some of the most intense music the Baroque has ever produced. With ten soloists and continuo, Voces Suaves revisits both Scarlattis: Father Alessandro's Salve Regina, which elevates devotion to a high art form, and Domenico's utterly unique Stabat Mater. Guest of honour at this family celebration is Gregorio Allegri, whose illustrious Miserere is performed with the ornamentation with which it was sung in the Sistine Chapel.
