Last year, the first look behind the scenes took place during the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2024, as a token of appreciation for our €200+ Friends. This year, you can again see the festival from the other side. During the festival, we will have a number of choice activities available to you at various times. What exactly these are will remain a surprise for a while. The programme will be announced mid June. You will then also receive an e-mail with an invitation.
When visiting Utrecht, it is impossible to miss: the Domtoren. For more than 400 years, this 112-metre-high pride of the city has graced the Utrecht skyline, while its bells have spread their distinctive sound over the city. The Domtoren has also played a central role during Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht for years – the Utrechts Klokkenluiders Gilde provides bell ringing and carillonneurs play daily concerts on the carillon. Unfortunately, the carillonneur often remains invisible and at high altitude, but during this behind-the-scenes look, that is a thing of the past. Under the inspiring guidance of none other than the city’s chief carillonneur, Malgosia Fiebig, you will explore the magnificent Dom Tower and get to know this musician and her instrument.

With six halls, several plazas, two cafés and now also a small music library, TivoliVredenburg is often referred to as ‘the city within the city’. Ever since this huge eye-catcher opened its doors in 2014, it has also been home to our festival centre during the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht – and that while simultaneously hosting pop concerts and dance nights. How does it work, such a large building hosting multiple events at the same time? And what does it look like behind the scenes? In this behind-the-scenes look, TivoliVredenburg tour guides take you through the history of the building and to places that normally remain behind closed doors.
