PRJCT Amsterdam / Maarten Engeltjes
The portion of high baroque served up by PRJCT Amsterdam can safely be called generous: grand and royal! The program includes music by Vivaldi, in which the strings rule and in which the crystalline voice of Maarten Engeltjes triumphs. Just as moving as the motet Filiae maestae Jerusalem and the incomparable Stabat Mater by Vivaldi, is the Salve Regina by Johann Adolf Hasse that is on the programme here: in 18th-century Italy it was a hit, sung by the castrato singer Farinelli.
