Louise Acabo
‘Whoever hears Chambonnières needs hear nothing else,’ wrote priest and mathematician Marin Mersenne in 1636. The young French harpsichordist Louise Acabo proves why: Chambonnières' harpsichord music is the highest art for every keyboard lover. It’s far from easy, however: this repertoire demands an interpreter who transcends the mechanics and approaches the harpsichord with courageous agility. Acabo alternates works by the French master with compositions by Locke, Preston, and Byrne: English repertoire in which his legacy is clearly audible.
